I just got back from discussing Maid RPG. Right now I am rather vexed and concerned from reading this forum post by someone who claims to be a doctor, posting naught but a single initial ?Z? to identify himself. The post decries and condemns the great changes that are shaping our society today, something he criticizes to be impinging upon these vague, undefined abstract limitations he calls ?social contracts established by human civilization?. Without cause or reason he declares that it is in our best interests to prevent this thing he baselessly disparages as a threat in order to preserve something he describes as ?our way of life?. I am bothered, troubled, even alarmed that this person could talk of such an atrocious protestation against the very drive of humanity?s progress with such calm, effortless eloquence. That this ?diatribe? of his might even seem logical and persuasive to some, powerful even. I fear what may happen if this person is allowed to speak to the ignorant masses, influencing and swaying their wills. For this thing he attacks, that he demands censure on, is the very power of change! He attempts to impose these restraints, these limits, to the very fuel of human lives. Change moves human civilization forwards. There are no limits, no confines! If anything, the only law of life, the only ?social contract?, is progress. Development and advancement are the very foundations of this ?social contract? that humanity endeavours to uphold every passing day. It is the very basis upon which the institution of life is built. Our way of life depends on it. To impede it would be folly. To curb it would be suicide. To stop it would be death. I look on in anxiety and fear at this. My only hope is that you can decide for yourself the truth and the course of action you must take.
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?
I have corrected your cunning monologue on the immense value of chaos.
You have greatly misapprehended my missive, as I am not in opposition to the overall concept of change, but all change is not for the better. There are positive and negative changes. Positive change will propel humanity into a bright future, unburdened by evils such as poverty, war, disease, and prejudice. The type of change I am referring to is a deleterious assault upon the very foundations of society, which, if allowed to progress unhindered, will lead to the absolute downfall of civilization and a return to the neolithic era at best.
And who might you be to impose your own small minded and possibly idealistic, but impractical views upon the wave of the future, when you yourself are not able to accurately project where these changes are taking us? How is it possible for you to have knowledge of anything that exists in the near or distant future?
Alas, I have nothing to add and merely hope you endeavor to question your stodgy, staid, stilted views and cease to be a deleterious dipsomaniac.
